How to Administer Narcan (naloxone)
Administering naloxone empowers public health agencies, community organizations, friends, family members, and others with the knowledge and skills needed to prevent opioid-related deaths. Naloxone is a life-saving medication that can reverse the effects of an opioid poisoning or overdose. This 11-minute training video features a six-point checklist for recognizing the signs of an overdose and provides step-by-step instructions on how to administer naloxone and offer post-overdose care.
The video was produced by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) Safe and Active Communities Branch as part of a comprehensive strategy to address opioid misuse and prevent overdose deaths.
